{"id":889,"date":"2022-12-22T10:42:06","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T09:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kloe-benessereanimale.com\/?p=889"},"modified":"2022-12-24T16:15:59","modified_gmt":"2022-12-24T15:15:59","slug":"euthanasia-what-to-expect-from-your-vet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/en\/2022\/12\/22\/euthanasia-what-to-expect-from-your-vet\/","title":{"rendered":"Euthanasia: what to expect from your vet?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear reader,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In previous articles I have mentioned some thoughts on the subject of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intention of this article is to give you some basics to guide you in accompanying your animal to be euthanised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The question is:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">When I have consciously made the choice to euthanise my beloved animal, what should I expect from the vet who will perform it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are facing a moment of high emotional weight, the feeling of guilt manifests itself like a river in flood and you may torment yourself wondering if you are doing all you can and if it is time<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover is-light wp-duotone-unset-1\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim\"><\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" class=\"wp-block-cover__image-background wp-image-881\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-1024x682.jpg\" data-object-fit=\"cover\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-1536x1023.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-2048x1364.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-370x247.jpg 370w, https:\/\/kloe-benessere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/nikko-macaspac-6SNbWyFwuhk-unsplash-760x506.jpg 760w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\">In this emotional maelstrom, you are nevertheless called upon to be present and lucid in order to accompany your animal friend.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">I WOULD THEREFORE LIKE TO GIVE YOU THREE MAIN POINTS OF REFERENCE, HOPEFULLY THEY WILL HELP YOU IF AND WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF GOING THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PRE-EUTHANASIA APPOINTMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the vet&#8217;s:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Get a step-by-step explanation of exactly how the whole process takes place;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask him: &#8220;Is it possible to do this at home?&#8221; (clearly from the point of view of familiar surroundings and serenity it is always the emotionally best choice for the animal);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get an explanation of how burial or cremation (collective and individual) takes place;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get an explanation of how it works with documents (microchip, death certificate);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear to yourself: <strong>Do I want to be present?<\/strong> (here I will not go into how crucial our presence is for the passage because I will discuss this in a dedicated article).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DURING EUTHANASIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If it will be performed in the veterinary clinic, choose a time with little activity (either very early or before closing time.) This will avoid noise and distractions and ensure a calm situation for our animal;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get an explanation of the execution process again;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There must be no interruption:<strong> time stops at this moment<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have the vet explain the physical reactions to be prepared (bladder, bowel, muscle movements).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AFTER EUTHANASIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask your vet for some time alone with your friend;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Handle the body with respect and ensure that your predispositions are respected (cremation, urn).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">KNOWING BEFOREHAND HOW THE WHOLE PROCESS ACTUALLY UNFOLDS CAN BE OF GREAT SUPPORT IF YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS PAINFUL EXPERIENCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Love you give, love you receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kloe<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some practical tips before euthanasia of your animal: here are some basis that can guide you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":879,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[33,31,32,34],"class_list":["post-889","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-animals","tag-death","tag-euthanasia","tag-kloebenessereanimale-en"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Euthanasia: what to expect from your vet?
